Malachite Bowls - Handmade

£45.00

Malachite production now mainly comes from The Republic of Congo, Zambia and Namibia, and is a green Copper carbonate hydroxide mineral. Copper actually makes up more than half of its mineral composition. This is why it can be toxic to humans when inhaled. It was actually one of the first ores to produce Copper. However this isn’t the case anymore as it is now only found in small quantities, making Malachite much more valuable.

Malachite can be found in a few areas of the world, one of these being Russia where a large deposit was found and very quickly mined in large quantities for gemstone production in the 1800’s, resulting in a now lacking supply.

Small supplies can also be found as close to the U.K. as France, and was originally found in Israel and Egypt. Other places Malachite can be found more scarcely include Arizona and Australia! The majority of todays gemstone and jewellery production now comes from The Republic of Congo, Zambia and Namibia, and because of the low supply worldwide, prices tend to be much higher.

Did you know Malachite what’s also been used as a paint for hundreds of years as it is easily ground down into a pigment?

In terms of healing properties Malachite is wonderful for strength and courage, courage to speak your mind and take risks in life. It’s also a wonderful heart healer and can help clear negative energies.

Advisory: Do not get Malachite wet or mix with water.

MOHS hardness scale - 3.5 to 4
